Vettakkorumakan Kavu temple is located at Kottakkal in Malappuram district, Kerala. The main murti worshipped in the temple is Vettaikaran or Vettakkorumakan. Kottakkal Vettakkorumakan kavu festival 2022 date is January 25 to February 1.
This is the upasana murti of Kottakkal Kovilakam. The murti faces west.
The temple has murtis of various gods and goddesses from Hindu pantheon including four Vettaikaran, two Ganapathi, Sri Chakram, Poorneswari, Durga, Varaham, Sri Raman, Seeta and two Sri Krishna. Apart from this Salagramas, Marathaka Pacha and Shivlings are worshipped in the shrine.
The annual festival in the temple begins on Krishna Paksha Ashtami tithi in Makaram month. This 8-day pattu-utsavam attracts large number of devotees. Breaking of 12,000 coconuts (thenga eriyal) vazhipadu is held in the temple.
