Kulathoor Devi Temple Festival – Kulathoor Moozhy Mahadevi Temple

Kulathoor Moozhy Mahadevi temple is located at Kulathoor in Kottangal village in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala. Kulathoor Devi Temple festival 2021 date is March 19 to March 28. The 10-day annual festival ends with Arattu on Uthram nakshatra in Meenam month.

 The main deity worshiped in the temple is Goddess Durga – some people refer it to as Bhadrakali. It is believed that the deity her arrived from Kodungallur.

The main deity faces east. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ayyappan and Nagarajavu.

Around 1 km from the temple is the Moolathara the place where Goddess first came and sat. On the last day of the annual temple festival, the utsava murti of Goddess will reach the moolathara accompanied by traditional temple music. After deeparadhana here, the deity goes for Arattu.

Amma Kavu is another holy spot in the temple. It is believed that mother of Goddess resides here. The deity in the main temple comes to visit her mother here. Special pujas are held here during festivals. Amma Kavil Vilakku is an important ritual here.
