Shoolini Devi Temple At Solan – Himachal Pradesh

Shoolini Devi temple is located at Solan town which is around 47 kms from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The district of Solan derives its name from the local deity, Goddess Shoolini Devi. The present temple is a new construction built in 1988 – 89 over an existing shrine. The temple is situated in the middle of the old city, barely a kilometer from the Chowk.

In front of the sanctum are a set of footprints in marble, symbolic of the footprints of the Goddess.

In the sanctum sanctorum are the Nava Durgas, the nine aspects of Goddess Durga. Eight of them are placed on a platform and the main deity standing on a raised plinth behind them.

The state-level Shoolini fair and festival is celebrated in Solan annually in the second week of June with great gusto. The Goddess is worshipped in the morning and the celebrations continue till late in the night.
