Udalakavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple Festival – History

Udalakavu Sree Dharma Sastha temple is located at Adatt village in Thrissur district, Kerala. Udalakavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple festival 2022 date is January 23. The main festival in the temple is held on Uthram nakshatra in Makaram month.

On Pathamudayam pattu is held in the temple.

The temple is one among the 108 Ayyappa temples in Kerala. The temple is known as Udaluravu in Thottam pattu, which narrates about the 108 Ayyappa temples in Kerala.

Ayyappa or Sree Dharma Sastha is worshipped in the temple and the deity faces east.

The belief is that the torso of Ayyappa is worshipped in the temple. Head is worshipped at Thayamkavu and legs at Mulakunatthu Kavu.

It is believed that murti in the temple is that of Sastha who had annihilated Demon Padukasura.

Karanma Shanthi is of Puthu Kattu mana.

Udalakavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple History

The temple belonged to Pulincheri Nair who was a local ruler. Later the temple was maintained by Kunnathu Palli Achanmar. The urazhma position belongs to the family.

Tathampalli Devi Temple

Tathampalli Devi temple is located inside the compound of Udalakavu Sree Dharma Sastha temple. The temple belonged to Tathampalli Mana.

It is believed that when Tathampalli Mana perished Kunnathu Palli family transferred the murti to Udalakavu temple. The temple had vast area of forest in its name. The forest was later transferred to Kochi kingdom by Shakthan Thampuran.
