Fort of Kansa in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is popularly known as Kansa Qila. This is the place from where the demon king Kansa, ruled Mathura and harassed Sri Krishna and his parents. The fort, which is in ruins today, was built by Raja Mansingh of Jaipur on the exact location where Kansa, uncle of Bhagavan Sri Krishna, had built his palace. An observatory was built here later by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh of Ajmer, who was very fond of astronomy.
