Kandanakam Vettakkorumakan Temple On Edappal – Kuttippuram Road

Kandanakam Vettakkorumakan temple is located at Kandanakam in Thavanur village on the Edappal – Kuttippuram road in Malappuram district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Vettakkorumakan. A Shivling carved out of Shila or granite is worshipped in the temple. The temple is also known as Sree Vettakkorumakan Shiva Temple.

The Upa Devata worshipped in the temple is Sastha who is along with Poorna and Pushkala.

The temple was attacked by Tipu Sultan and his soldiers. It is said that eight Muslim families of the area helped in stopping the attack of Tipu. As a reward and gratitude, the land tax of the eight Muslim families after the attack was paid by the temple for several years.

The temple belonged to Maniyoor Nambidi. The temple was very rich during ancient times as it had 36,000 para rice (nellu) and pattam.

The temple is currently managed by a committee of villagers.
