Pradosh, or Pradosha Vrat, is a highly auspicious day dedicated to Lord Shiva on the 12th day of every lunar fortnight in traditional Hindu calendar. Shiva devotees undertake a fasting from sunrise to sunset on the Pradosham day. The Pradosha puja is performed during the twilight period. The date of Pradosham – September 8, 2022 and September 23, 2022.
Pradosh as the name indicates is a period just before sunset and after sunset. The Pradosha period is between 1.5 hours before sunset and 1 hour after sunset.
Some people only observe fasting on anyone Pradosh day in a month. There are staunch Shiva devotees who observe fast on the both the days in a month.
Special pujas are performed in Shiva temples during the period. It is said that Lord Shiva and Parvati are in a happy mood during Pradosham period and they shower blessings on devotees.
